Message From the Director
The beginning of a new school year is exciting and full of promise. This September is no different as we all recognize the importance of returning students to a more normal, full-time, in-person learning environment.
For the 2021-2022 school year, the safety of our school communities will continue to be of paramount importance. During the past two school years, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected students differently. The Ministry of Education guidelines for opening schools outline priority areas that school boards will focus on in the upcoming school year. These priority areas are: student mental health and well-being; early reading and math; and re-engagement of students.
The implementation of the Ministry of Education’s guidelines to reopening schools will support schools to maximize health and safety as places to work and learn whether they have chosen in-person or remote learning.
In the Halton District School Board we will continue to utilize the Multi-Year Strategic Plan to set direction and prioritize the collective actions of all stakeholders to ensure our efforts as an organization are aligned and coordinated. The Human Rights Equity Action and Accountability Plan: The Way Forward reflects our commitment to create and maintain safe, inclusive learning and working environments free from discrimination for students, families, staff and members of the public.
The HDSB September 2021 plan outlines a full return to safe and productive learning environments for our students and staff. The information provided in this plan incorporates the direction issued by the Ministry of Education and approved by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Ontario.
I encourage you to read through this information carefully.
